You May Not Be the Hare, But You Can Be the Tortoise

Many of you will remember the children’s tale about the tortoise and the hare. If you do not have young children or young grandchildren, remember the plot of the story. A hare or rabbit starts a race with speed. Perhaps he was not “faster than a speeding bullet” like superman, but the hare was definitely faster than the tortoise who moved along slowly but surely. As the story goes along, we see the hare being so far ahead in the race that he gets lazy or indifferent. However, the tortoise keeps moving slowly toward the finish line.

I share that story today because I believe that it offers an important lesson for all of us in our real estate and note investing. You may not have the time, capital, or skill to pursue your real estate investing and note investing goals quickly. However, all of us can follow the example of the tortoise and move forward slowly but surely toward whatever might be our goals.

Let me more specifically about this:

1. You may not have the time to give 8 to 12 hours a day to your real estate or note investing, but can you not give 10 minutes a day. In a weeks time, 10 minutes a day is 70 minutes (over an hour) and in a months time 10 minutes a day in 30 days will equal 5 hours.

2. You may not have the skill and knowledge to accomplish your investing skills this year but can you spend 15 minutes a day listening to a podcast, watching a video, or reading a book from someone who is doing what you want to do?

3. You may not have the capital to buy a real estate note or for a home down payment, but can you not save monies or borrow monies from a neighbor?

You may not be the hare, but you can be the tortoise! With a little money, a little time, and a persevering, determined spirit you can do something this day and everyday to help you reach your real estate investing or note investing goals. What will you do today?- Best wishes in all your real estate pursuits.- R. L. Wall
